Emergency Medical Technician
A one year program recommended for students entering 11th and 12th grade in the next academic year. This course is built on standards from the Common Career and Technical Core as well as NYS requirements for EMT-B certification. Starts Fall 2024 and operates as a locally run course for the 2024-25 school year. This WSWHE BOCES CTE program is located at Warrensburg High School. Students must turn 17 in the month the exam is administered (May) to be eligible for certification.
Students will learn how Emergency Medical Technicians (EMTs) deliver critical pre-hospital care in crisis situations. Through theoretical training in medical procedures, anatomy, and incident management, students will gain the knowledge and composure needed to excel in dynamic environments and get them ready for advanced medical training.

- Patient assessment
- General pharmacology
- Airway management
- Shock and resuscitation
- Medical assessment
- Traumatic injuries
- EMS operations and incident management
- Medical legal and ethical issues
Certifications & Endorsements Technical Assessment:
Students who successfully complete the program and certification exams will receive certification from the NYS Department of Health as an Emergency Medical Technician. Additional certification possibilities include American Heart Association Basic Life Support Certification, CPR, AED.

Articulation Agreements:
CTE works with area colleges to ready students for the world of work and for the rigors of post-secondary coursework. This program is currently working with area colleges to obtain articulation agreements that will allow for advance standing or the issuance of credit to those CTE students meeting all program requirements and articulation agreement standards. Additional information will be posted soon.
