Construction Trades Students Learn to Think Outside the Box

In addition to the book house, he was also presented with more than three cases of books that were donated by SABEA, the teacher and SRP union at the WSWHE BOCES.

When union leaders approached the administration with an idea to join together and recruit our construction trades classes to produce book houses that could be placed throughout our community, everyone was immediately on board. Mr. Coffinger said that it was a valuable community project that incorporated many of the skills that students work on honing throughout their two years of CTE instruction. Students were instructed to think outside of the box when designing their projects and as we see, they came up with some very unique designs. They were able to practice using hand and power tools, use their measurement skills, and determine appropriate fasteners just to name a few of the skills they utilized.
