Remembering Spc. Abigail Jenks

It is with profound sadness that we write to all members of the WSWHE BOCES community. Spc. Abigail Jenks, a 2018 graduate of Saratoga Springs High School and WSWHE BOCES Early Childhood Development Program, passed away following a Black Hawk helicopter static-line jump training exercise at Fort Bragg, N.C.

Spc. Abigail Jenks, was a student at the F. Donald Myers Education Center from September 2016 - June 2018 in the Early Childhood Education Program. Ms. Jenks’ Early Childhood Instructor, Shannon Bitzer, said, “I remember Abigail very well. She had such a love of nature, animals and organizing (especially our large storage closet). She found our pet rabbit, Nugget, in need of rehoming and donated him to the preschool. She also brought the preschoolers tadpoles, which they loved.” Bitzer continued by saying “Abigail was a beautiful artist and was always drawing.” Bitzer recalls when Abigail shared the logo she created for her battalion on social media and said, “it was beautiful and so great to see her continue her artistry.”

We are grateful to have known her and for her service. Our thoughts and prayers are with her family and friends during this difficult time.
