CTE Students Learn “Real-Life” Skills to Prepare for Local Job Placement
Our Criminal Justice students recently spent an afternoon talking to industry professionals from the Saratoga Casino Hotel about job placement, interviewing, and career advice.
Edward Moore, Director of Security at the Saratoga Casino Hotel and retired Saratoga Springs Police Chief was joined by Gregory DiStefano, the Casino’s Talent Management Specialist, to discuss job opportunities within their Security Department and give valuable advice on how to prepare for a successful job interview.
“Programs like these really prepare students for careers in the real world,” said DiStefano when discussing the WSWHE BOCES course. “It would be great if more schools taught these real-life skills to students.”
One of the many benefits of completing this program is the chance to take the NYS Pre-Assignment Training Course for Security Officers in class. With this qualification, some students plan to seek employment with Saratoga Casino upon receiving their Security Officer Training certificate from the school.
“This [Criminal Justice] class gives students an edge against other applicants who apply with us.” added Moore.
