2018 Scholars Recognition

Lucas Thayer, a senior at South Glens Falls School District who is in the Career and Technical Education Construction Trades program, was recognized at the 32nd Annual Scholars’ Recognition Dinner recently. This annual event recognizes high achieving high school seniors from public, private, parochial, and BOCES secondary schools in the Greater Capital Region.  It also honors teachers nominated by each student scholar for having had a significant influence on their education.

Lucas works as a prep chef at the Peppermill Restaurant on evenings and weekends. Lucas consistently maintains a high GPA. He is the class treasurer and a member of the National Technical Honor Society. Lucas volunteers for the South Glens Falls Marathon Dance. Lucas has only missed one day of school over the last two years at BOCES. Lucas loves problem solving and is extremely organized.

Lucas says that CTE Construction Trades Teacher Ian Hamilton inspired him to take an assertive approach to new challenges. Congratulations to both!
