Culinary students with Chef Tila
Culinary Arts students from the F. Donald Myers and Southern Adirondack Education Centers had a unique opportunity on March 1. They met Chef Jet Tila, a rising culinary star. In addition to being an accomplished chef and author, Chef Tila is a regular personality on several Food Network shows including Chopped, Guy’s Grocery Games and Cutthroat Kitchen. He even competed against the indomitable Chef Morimoto on Iron Chef America.
The child of immigrants, Tila has worked hard for the American dream and enjoyed sharing those important life lessons with culinary students at SUNY Adirondack Community College. Chef Tila gave an inspiring lecture, highlighting the importance of education.
“A modern chef must be a teacher and a communicator,” said Tila. “You have to put in the work. You don’t graduate culinary school and immediately become a chef.”
After his talk, Chef Tila autographed copies of his latest book for the students. It was an experience that will long be remembered. To learn more about Chef Tila, click here.
